We watched the 2019 movie “Knives Out” in June 2022. With an all-star cast and some sharp decor, this mystery has more twists and turns than devious family members. Christopher Plummer plays expertly, Chris Evans rocks a sweater, Daniel Craig’s accent is ridiculous, and Ana de Armas wins the day in this delightful romp. And don’t forget Nana, who’s sharper than all of them. We eagerly look forward to the “sequel” later this year.

We watched the season finale of Doctor Who (series 4) some time ago. We appreciate RTD’s ability to write a smashing big finale and look forward to all the potential that comes with RTD as the showrunner again in the future. Rose gets everything she wants, Donna gets to be brilliant before her crushing exit, and we set off on the road to meeting the Next Doctor.

We watched the first season of the Amazon Prime series “Invincible” in spring 2022. This is an animated series based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman of The Walking Dead fame, with several characters voiced by Walking Dead alums. We enjoyed this series despite, or perhaps because of, the blood and gore and swearing, and the complete upending of standard superhero story expectations.

We watched the Netflix original series “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window” in April 2022 . This is a darkly humorous parody of mystery psychological thrillers which co-stars the incomparable Kristen Bell and a VERY full glass of red wine. In case you can’t tell, we greatly enjoyed this series!

We watched the first three episodes of ‘Community’ and ‘Schitt’s Creek’ for some lighter, more fun content, inspired by our rewatch of season 1 (and the end of season 4) of ‘The Good Place’. Schitt’s Creek was the clear winner, but Grams is willing to give Community a chance with some more episodes.

We watched two more episodes of Doctor Who (series 4), “Midnight” and “Turn Left” in January 2022. We finally got to talk about the darkest doctor-heavy and saddest companion-heavy episodes. Plus, Rose again!

We finally finished watching the last five episodes of Doctor Who (series 12) in January 2022. We talk very little about microplastics and detachable fingers, and we have somewhat more to say about the haunting of (not that house), the Shelleys, an overly emotional Cyberman, and the Master.

We watched “The Haunting of Hill House” in late December 2021. This is our third Mike Flanagan series and might be our favorite. It is a captivating and, indeed, haunting show.

We watched all nine episodes of “The Haunting of Bly Manor” over one weekend in December 2021. This is more of a gothic romance than a horror show, with some really great performances from T’Nia Miller and Rahul Kohli that win our hearts and minds. We digress a bit in the middle and trail off at the end, but we hope you enjoy this extra-long and not at all Christmas-y episode!
