We watched the Netflix limited series “Midnight Mass,” which is a supernatural horror series created and directed by Mike Flanagan. We loved the thought-provoking, dialogue- and monologue-heavy story and powerful performances by all the main actors. It’s well worth the investment of 14 or so hours (to watch it at least twice!).

We watched the next two-part episodes “Silence in the Library” & “Forest of the Dead” of Doctor Who series 4 (2008) and shared our enjoyment of Donna, Anita, River and the Doctor in this intense and intimate adventure. These episodes might be the pinnacle of Steven Moffat’s outstanding writing, which has impressed us every season thus far.

We watched the first seven episodes of season 2 of Star Trek: Lower Decks and talked about them on Saturday, September 25, 2021. We’ve been enjoying this animated series of Star Trek, which is certainly not a children’s show. There are so many good episodes this season, it’s impossible to pick a favorite!

We watched the next episode of Doctor Who series 4 (2008), “The Unicorn and the Wasp,” on September 11, 2021. This is a fun romp where Donna and the 10th Doctor get to do some flapping, admire Agatha Christie’s mind, and help solve not one, but two, mysteries.

We continue with the fourth episode of Star Trek (the original series), “The Naked Time.” Despite the episode title, there were no naked people, though we did get treated to a shirtless Sulu, and everyone was very sweaty. Kirk loves his ship, O’Riley loves to sing, and the conference room doors care about Spock’s feelings.

We jump into Star Trek (the original series) with the first three episodes from 1966: “Where No Man Has Gone Before,” “The Man Trap,” and “Charlie X.” We react to the show’s introduction of the big three (Kirk, Spock, and McCoy) and a noticeable pattern in these first three plotlines.

We watched the next three episodes of Doctor Who series 4 (2008), “The Sontaran Stratagem,” “The Poison Sky,” and “The Doctor’s Daughter,” which have Martha temporarily rejoining the 10th Doctor and Donna. The Sontarans are worthy adversaries; Donna’s mom saves the day with an ax; the Doctor has a daughter (/wife); and we don’t see nearly enough interaction between Martha and the other characters. Oh well, it was good to see Martha again anyway.
